Frequently Asked Questions About Hearing Care

Answers to common questions about hearing tests, hearing aids, tinnitus, and appointments at our Dallas, McKinney, and Garland clinics.

    Hearing Tests

How long does a hearing test take?+
A comprehensive hearing evaluation typically takes 45 to 60 minutes, including a detailed case history, otoscopic examination, and multiple audiometric tests. We review results with you immediately.
    Is a hearing test painful?+
Not at all. Hearing tests are completely non-invasive and painless. You listen to sounds through headphones and respond by pressing a button or raising your hand.
    Do I need a referral for a hearing test?+
No referral is needed. You can schedule directly with our audiology team at any of our three locations.
What should I bring to my hearing test?+
Please bring your insurance card, a list of current medications, and any previous hearing test results if available.

    Hearing Aids

How much do hearing aids cost?+
Hearing aid costs vary based on technology level and features. We offer solutions at multiple price points and provide transparent pricing during your consultation. Many insurance plans provide coverage.
How long do hearing aids last?+
Modern hearing aids typically last 4 to 7 years with proper care and maintenance. Regular check-ups help maximize their lifespan.
Can I try hearing aids before buying?+
Yes! We offer trial periods so you can experience better hearing in your everyday environments before making a commitment.
Will hearing aids make everything too loud?+
Today's hearing aids are sophisticated and can be precisely programmed to amplify only the sounds you need help with, while keeping comfortable sounds at normal levels.

    Tinnitus

    What causes tinnitus?+
Tinnitus can be caused by noise exposure, age-related hearing changes, ear infections, certain medications, stress, cardiovascular issues, and more. Our audiologists can help identify contributing factors.
Is there a cure for tinnitus?+
While there is no universal cure, many effective management strategies can significantly reduce its impact, including sound therapy, hearing aids with tinnitus features, and counseling.

    Insurance and Payment

    What insurance do you accept?+
We work with most major insurance providers. Contact our office to verify your specific coverage before your appointment.
    Do you offer financing?+
Yes, we offer flexible financing plans to help make hearing care affordable. We also accept HSA and FSA funds.
